This townhome development presented several unique design challenges. First, the site had previously been graded and utilities laid for a different development which was never completed. Allen + Pepa Architects therefore designed these townhomes to align with these conditions while meeting the Illinois Housing Development Authority’s (IHDA) standards for Affordable Housing in pursuit of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). The project also met the sustainable design standards of Enterprise Green Communities. The development featured 63 two-story units, with 7 units offering full accessibility with elevators and all units offering accessible entry to the main floors.
